Economic and military cooperation
Economic and military cooperation developed within each bloc during the Cold War. This kind of cooperation resulted in the launching of the Marshall Plan and the formation of NATO in the West. Similar organizations such as the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON) and the Warsaw Pact were formed to counterbalance the influence of the capitalist bloc in the European communist bloc. The competition between the capitalist and communist blocs are revealed in all these efforts at cooperation.
